I'd like to see some other designs for the Spyder fenders. Seen a lot of "chopping" and removal going on, but haven't seen anyone handy with fiberglass or molded plastic do anything different yet. There is definitely an opportunity...

Corbin's fender is nice. I would like to see one without a place for the license plate. Some of us have relocated them after losing two license plates, one of which was lost in the middle of the country somewhere.... personalized plates are expensive to continously keep replacing and the rear fender is necessary. I rode a few thousand miles without and had crap all over the place on the underside and up on the rear tail piece and my saddlebags.

I have the Corbin fender and the only way that the plate could come off is if all four bolts and the frame fell off. I check mine every so often and have never tightened them after the original install.
I could complain about installing it but that's another story.

Steve replaced the rear mud guard with a rear fender off a Kawasaki 2008 ZX14.
The shape and angle fit perfectly onto the plastic stone guard above the rear wheel. A few small drill holes and some wiring, and it's all done.
See http://spyderryders.net.au/tips.html - he fixed the belt guard issue too.

Martin, What is the purple canister we see? I know I have never seen one on a spyder here yet?
Fender looks great.

Looks cool, but more for looks than actually protection from water I assume.

You know, I purposely took that mud guard off my Ninja 250... but I am kinda digging it on the Spyder.

I can answer that question for Martin. It's a clear perspex tube for displaying the registration sticker that must be renewed annually, and has to be displayed, or the police can get a bit tetchy. A different colour each year.

I don't know what a "hugger" is other than an old girlfriend I had many moons ago--but I'll try. I saw the problem of the underside of my Spy getting really dirty if I would run over mud or in the rain. So I made a fender extension that rolls forward and down to keep all the muck out of the under-sear area. It is made out of #18 guage stainless steel and is securely attached at both its ends. Works like a charm.
