Using the liquid form of blue loctite on the body panels screws can stain the painted body panels [red, yellow, silver] if some of it seeps on the painted surface and it won't rub out. Instead use the stick form which is also hi-heat resistant. http://www.all-spec....ucts/37684.html

I don't think I would use loctite anyway. In the 8 months I've had mine, I've probably had the skins off at least 10 times.

I have had my Spyder 20 months The panels come off, about every other week. I have never used Loctite on any of the panels. I have not lost a screw, nor have I lost a panel.

No offense, but I think you are being a little over cautious

I have replaced most of the panel screws with Dzus fasteners similar to those found on the oil reservoir panel. Never use Locktite on them and never had one come loose.

Dzus fasteners are cool, but with the body being plastic I like to back to screws out a little so the body is smooth. I too have had body panels off often and have not noticed the screws any looser then when I installed them. Man I love my spyder.

None taken, but I have noticed my body screws getting loser and I too like to back them off a little so as not to crack the panels. The liquid loctite will react with some plastics. I've tried it on several types of plastic as a test.

Neez, I have an identical Spy as youhave. Please send me a short email telling me what style and size Dzus fasteners you use to hold the panels on and if you use them in place of ALL the 5 or 6 mm screws securing the panels. Thanks. Arthur---Mexico City, <xe1ll@prodigy.net.mx>

Arthur, I use 14mm long Dzus available at Kurveygirl.com. I used silver ones for the
rightside yellow rad cover and black ones for all black panels. Mostly, I use D ring dzus, so that no tools are required, but on the black side panels, that are marked "Can-Am", I used the allen wrench style, for looks, so as not to snag clothing, and so no looky-loos undo them in a parking lot. To release this type you can use either a 4mm or 5/32 inch Allen wrench, both of which, incidently, will also unscrew a Torx, in a pinch. As to whether or not you want to replace all the torx, I suppose you could, but I only did panels that are most frequently removed, as a time saver. Why bother with those you only remove once in a blue moon? Personaly,I would just buy a few Dzus at a time and see how it goes. The handiest panel to fit with Dzus is the rear splash pan above the rear tire, but it is also the most difficult as the plastic is slightly thicker there, and the Dzus "nut" must be bent slightly to fit. Just do 6 here, and slot the rearmost plastic hole for quick removal. Best of luck with it, let me know if you encounter a problem, Regards, Neez.

Neez, I'm not very up to finding Duez things on these chat pages. Please send me a small note telling me what I wanted to know. Arthur, <xe1ll@prodigy.net.mx>

Sorry, Arthur, I thought I answered your questions in my last post. Not sure what you require. I suggest that you go to kurveygirl.com and use the "contact us" link. Julie Salcido, the owner, is helpful and more knowledgable about Dzus than I am.
