I took first ride on RT and followed a person on RS and saw his machine
handled my nicer on corners and this person I followed had taken RT out before
I had and he placed 1K nite before on purchasing and believe he was disapponited
in RT feeling like it was top heavy and have to say I felt the same.
It is what it is but have to say they the dealer are going to try and lower it
and see if that feeling helps by lower the air and front suspension some.
Even the dealer sales rep felt
The Ride is so cushy and probably leads a little to why it feels top heavy
with the soft suspension..
The dealer would not let wife ride with me and she had to ride with sale rep and'
she felt nauseous on back with it being to soft of ride and bouncey..
On the freeway she said ride was good but in corners and turns she was not thrilled.
She took a ride on rider with RS and she was very excited with riding that over RT.
A woman with RS and her husband come it and took ride on RT and she had thoughts
of purchasing RT and she said she will keep her RS .
She and her husband both thought to soft a ride and felt tippsy and top heavy
with to little acceleration.
I then tried RS special Edition Black and wow what a difference in handling and
acceleration and the only few things I would do is bigger windshield and raise
handle bar approx 2 inches.
The dealer will call me when they lower suspension and will take another test ride on RT.
We spent 4 hours there and learned a lot and got a feel what others really thought on RT.
The guy wanted to sell his RS for 13K and dealer said it is only worth 10K with with 9k miles.
So I am pondering on purchasing a used one in case I am not happy and losing all that money
on a new one is what I have done on previous purchases..

Although it would be a good idea for me to get one (I would'nt drive as fast). I am not ready for that yet. I enjoy sportiness of the GS/RS too much.

I went to the LongBeach IMS on Sunday Dec 6th and test rode the RS SE5 on the little training course and then the RTS SE5 I went around town and OMG fell in love, (no motorcycle experience before) I did some research and 9 days later put a deposit down on a RTS SE5 PE. I am gonna wait on the trailer for now, but if I plan longer trips, then I will get it.
As far as previous poster saying it felt top heavy, I don't have that feeling in my vocabulary, I think that comes from prior motorcycle lean and counter balancing (jmo)
I did just take the MSP course and take my license exam this week. (CA no special license neccessary) But wanted as much knowledge as possible, I am currently practicing taking the RTS demo in the parking lot of the dealership. Once I have the M1 license their insurance covers me on the streets while I learn.
BTW I down loaded the owners manual and printed out. tons of info!!

As far as top heavy that is removed with a personal setup of the RT for you and your road conditions that you typicaly ryde. This will vary with ryder conditions such as weight, 2 up, solo, freeway or winding roads.
I am currently playing with the front and rear suspension, I currently have reset the front from 3 to 5 for mountain ryding but would not do a crosscountry trip set at 5 I would lower back to 3 or maybe 4 position.
The rear had 55 psi from the factory and I increased that for my weight and load to 75 PSI with a possible max of 90 PSI.
I took my wife out for breakfast on the RT with it set on 5 in the front and 75 psi in the rear, while the front needed the 5 setting for 2 up the rear was set down from a stiffer seting of 4 out of 5 to a 2 position on the fly just to get close to the feeling of that factory cushy feeling.
The RT is a bike that allows you to play with the suspension to get the desired comfort for any ryder and road condition that you ryde.
Don't be afraid to change and try different setting and combinations that will get you that Iron butt ryde in total comfort.
If I can do it so can you - it's that easy.
