here is a quick write-up on the fan controller installation:

installation:

* - the unit itself mounts on the plastic panel right behind the fan. you can either use double sided tape or drill four holes and mount with bolts or zip ties.
* - the purple wire attaches to the tan/orange wire on the temp. sensor harness using the supplied scotch-loc terminal.
* - the orange & gray wires (2-pin connectors) plug into the fender running light connection.
* - the red wire (ring terminal) attaches to the positive battery terminal.
* - the black wire (ring terminal) attaches to the ground post under the seat.
* - the red & white wires (2-pin connector) plugs into the fan (leave the other end of the factory harness open).
* - the blue wire may be attached to a switch (not supplied) that supplies +12v. when connected, the fan will run at 100%, regardless of temp..
* - the brown wire can be hooked up to an l.e.d. (not supplied) that will show the fan status (illuminated when the fan is running).

programming the fan controller:

* - the "fan" l.e.d. has three colors - amber, red & green.
amber - low temp. setting reached (50%-99% fan speed)
red - high temp. setting reached (100% fan speed)
green - the blue wire has +12v (100% fan speed)

* - to program (note: fan does not run in programming mode):
1. press & hold "prg" button for five seconds.
2. "fan" l.e.d. will slowly blink amber
3. warm engine to desired low temp. - press the "entr" button.
4. the "stat" l.e.d. will blink once & the "fan" l.e.d. will slowly blink red.
5. warm engine to desired high temp. - press the "entr" button.
6. the "stat" l.e.d. will blink once & the "fan" l.e.d. will slowly blink green.
7. press the "prg" button to exit programming.

Maybe this is just showing my rookie-ness, but...
Where is the fender running light connection?

Thanks,
John

Found it with a little help from Ken... for other rookies out there:
Look underneath the upper A-arm, and follow the wires back. One of them will run back towards the steering box. The connector should be visible. (Hint: look for a connector identical to the one that comes with the fan controller... duh.)

Does the fan controller still work if I have the nmn Front Fender TIPS kit installed? This kit has a plug into the fender running light connection also. Please explain how to connect both plugs in series with the fender running light connection.

It is an "in-line" connector. You disconnect the fender light, connect one side of the Fan Controller cable, then connect the fender light to the other side of the fan controller cable.

This should be transparent to any other kit, I don't think it will cause any problems... no worries!

So is anyone using this controller? This sounds like it would almost be a 'must have' for So Cal or southern riders. Heat is a big problem during the summer here. Any reviews?
