I killed an ungodly number of 'hoppers on Saturday and have gotten the ones I can see washed off, but there must be more inside every nook and cranny that just can't be accessed without dismantling half the byke. An suggestions on how to get rid of them and the smell?

It's not like I hit a skunk, but there's a really distinct smell to lots of squashed grasshoppers. I just don't happen to like it and can't be the only one... I hope ;-(

One year I took my little ysr50 the parade route the night before the new years day parade in pasadena, its a huge party and you get to ride the route like your in the parade and all the people camped out for the new years day parade, throw totillas and marshmellos and silly string at you. It doesent sound like fun but it is. My bike picked up lots of marshmellows and they got roasted on the motor, it smelled like roasting marshmellos for months, I tried to get them off but it was impossible, eventuelly the smell went away. So I would say just put on lots of miles and burn them off.

It's early in the morning here and I'm in a twisted mood..... :beerchug1:
Immerse your Spyder in a vat of Javex up to the air intake for 1/2 hour.
Move to southern Ontario where we have smaller 'hoppers', shad flies, prolific deer and numerous ignorant autos.
Piece o' cake for ya!

I hate to say it, but I think you will have to take off some of the tupperware, Rod. Probably no other good way to reach all those little squished critter parts. :TgC_emoticon142:

Definitely another end-of-season job. Which is only another 2 months at most in these parts so time is better spent ryding.

Given the wide open spaces and little traffic on the back roads (I can go hours and see hardly any other vehicles), I guess I'll pay the price with the 'hoppers. Sure wish there were more Spyders out here though -- I've only ever seen one other.

I hit a swarm if thats the right word of grasshoppers near Stanley Idaho. So thick the highway very slippery. Semi's stopped to let them clear out. Only took about 4 hrs of highway speed to burn them off/out. My boots were green for days. wingie
