Bought a linear actuator (with the help and advise of Cundiffla)....You need to go to a window tinting or automotive security shop to get these little boogers. Actuators are used for door locks, trunk releases, etc.

Or, you buy them over the internet.

To mount the bracket, I used 3/8" nuts for spacers to raise the bracket. I used standard body screws instead of the OEM #10 bolts that secure the trunk to the body frame.

Used all supplied hardware in package. Secured the push rod to the cable with the set screw.

Installed momentary contact push button inside the air cowl adjacent to the trunk. Hidden from view, out of the weather.

Cable from key still works in case battery is disconnected.

That is a great idea. I get frustrated when I have to shut down the motor to open the trunk then restart the engine again. I will be looking into this for the near future mod...

love your idea just want to let you know i took this project and added a little something
a 12V DC REMOTE CONTROL RELAY SWITCH 12VDC OUTPUT RM100 found on ebay and voila its really cool
no need to leave a switch on the bike for someone to know about just need the remote control
